Metropolink’s Commissary

Silvan Strauss presents Bricknasty at his Two Band Festival

If you don't know Silvan Strauss yet, you should definitely get to know him: his dynamic live performances are characterized by groovy beats and experimental sounds, seamlessly merging jazz, hip-hop and beatmaking into what could be called the jazz of tomorrow. His debut LP "FACING" (via KFR 2021) was a grandiose collection of Madlib-infused beats with foggy contemporary jazz and showcased his talent for loops and bounces. On his latest album "FLUKIN" (January 2025), he's now doing what he does best: playing and capturing the organic moments of communication in real time and making every idea sound really clear and strong. More improvisation, less programming and, above all, more interaction.

Bricknasty

With its infectious energy, soulful chords and soft, lilting vocals, Bricknasty's music moves effortlessly between RnB, neo-soul, jazz and psych, with influences from D'Angelo, MF Doom and Timbaland. As the band members grew together, their music evolved - each contributing to the existing demos as well as the overall identity and vision of the collective. Their palpable harmony and musical synchronicity is particularly evident in their live performances, which generated a lot of word of mouth in Dublin and beyond.

At the heart of Bricknasty's story are the experiences of frontman Fatboy, who grew up in the Dublin suburb of Ballymun - an area known for social problems such as unemployment, high crime rates and drug abuse and closely associated with the heroin epidemic in Dublin in the 1980s and 1990s. External prejudices further reinforced this reputation, meaning that residents rarely had the opportunity to present their own views.

The planet sounds feverish. On it, people sense dissonances between lifestyle, the climate crisis and the future. The Festivalcampus LAB project invites you to Metropolink's Commissary, an extraordinary venue for urban art. The young artists are keen to explore the burning issues of our time in a laboratory-like way, shedding light on a little-noticed aspect of current discourses on the future: "ecological grief". Their production explores the state of mind of a generation facing frightening living conditions. In collaboration with director Lea Luka Sikau from the Junge Akademie (Leopoldina) and international climate scientists, they have created an immersive performance with sound and language.

Marlon Magnéé (La Femme)

After fifteen years of touring the world with La Femme, the band he co-founded, Marlon Magnée is now back as a solo artist. With his new album, he picks up where he left off: psychedelic, cold wave, rockabilly and synth-driven punk. After Marlon 2024 already tore up our festival with La Femme, we're sure he'll do exactly the same with his solo project!

Peki Momés

The Turkish artist combines her unmistakable voice with Turkish disco, dancefloor jazz and international grooves.
Between fuzzy funk, Anatolian rare grooves and experimental synths, she creates a sound that is both raw and hypnotic.
Accompanied by her band, she now brings her music live to the stage.
Not to be missed.

yuuf

The band exemplifies an international vibe and consists of the Englishman Anthony Boatright (bass), the Frenchman Hugo Cottu (guitar), the Swiss Andrin Haag (handpan/percussion) and the Dane Oliver Overgaard (drums). The four are united by a shared curiosity to explore global sounds, weaving Motown groove, West African rhythms and atmospheric ambient textures into their own psychedelic sound.

Their music has already attracted international attention and their first shows in Germany sold out immediately. Their latest ep was released via Ninja Tune. We don't need to say much about it, do we? Fans of Khruangbin, yin yin and co will be doing somersaults, we promise!

Istanbul Ghetto Club

Istanbul Ghetto Club is an anonymous art initiative that emerged from Berlin's underground and avant-garde scene. Playing with acid sounds, modular synthesizers and traditional Anatolian instruments and experimenting on stage with performance and new media art, Istanbul Ghetto Club embodies an interface between three fields of tension: East and West, underground and mainstream, and tradition and zeitgeist. Go stupidly forward!

3000 Rave

Finally, our homies from 3000 Rave take over the club. The guys stand for the best selected club sound from vinyl, which they have dug out of the dustiest record crates in the nation and beyond until their fingers were sore. Let's see what they've got in their crate for us!

Cologne, 01.09.2025 - I'm packing my suitcase and I'm taking it with me: The band, the team, a whole load of songs and summer vibes.... In 2026, Philipp Poisel will be touring Germany with a full line-up for the first time since 2023, and it's already a tight-knit touring group.

Philipp Poisel, his band and his fans. Just friends! And this feeling of being on the road with friends will be combined with the energetic band sound, the smell of summer and vacations and singing Philipp Poisel's classics together on stages all over Germany. After four completely sold-out solo tours and the celebrated, sold-out tour with the Neon Acoustic Orchestra, Philipp Poisel and band are finally back. And back as friends on the instruments: Andie Mette (guitar), Dave Mette (drums), Fabian Wendt (bass) and Florian Ostertag (keys).

Anyone who has ever experienced Philipp Poisel and his band knows that Philipp's songs develop a special power and energy live with an international rock sound, dynamic eighties pop groove and playful seventies soundscapes. And of course there is also plenty of room for acoustic, intimate singer-songwriter moments.

Royal Republic is not your average rock band. They don't buy into the clichés or the dos and don'ts of Rock'n'Roll. A purist might shake their head and say "Hey now, this isn't right!" but they'd be wrong. Royal Republic is always right!

It's the weird flavor combination that doesn't make sense until you try it. The outfit that's so ugly it's awesome. The kinky thing you never knew you liked until it just sort of happened by accident that one time and you were all like WHOAAAH!

Established in 2007, the world's greatest power-disco quartet Royal Republic first busted onto the scene with their 2009 (or 2010) debut album We Are The Royal, featuring classics like Tommy Gun and Full Steam Spacemachine.
In 2012, the modestly titled follow-up Save The Nation was released, including smash hits like Everybody Wants To Be An Astronaut and Addictive. After that the band decided it was time to bring it on down and recorded the 2014 acoustic EP Royal Republic and The Nosebreakers.
In 2016, Royal released their 3rd album, Weekend Man. A tour-de-force featuring all-time greats like When I see You Dance With Another and Baby, which also started to hint at a new direction... This direction was fully embraced on Club Majesty, which boasted singles like Fireman & Dancer and Anna-Leigh, and at the time of its release and still to this day, Club Majesty remains the world's greatest Power-Disco album.

After this, the world stopped, but Royal did not. In this intermission, Royal Republic kept releasing anthems such as RATA-TATA and Back From the Dead, proving that even in the face of great adversity, Royal can churn out un-deadly classics. It's been a long hard wait, but at long last Royal Republic is BACK to melt your hearts and set fire to your speakers. In the long wake of previous masterpieces, Royal Republic proudly present their 5th studio album "LoveCop"!
Produced by Adam Grahn and Michael Ilbert at the legendary Hansa Studios, LoveCop features Royal's irresistible blend of sass, riffs and puns in combinations previously not thought possible. LoveCop is another giant leap in the right direction, where Royal Republic continues to play to its strengths, which also happens to be your weaknesses.

It's loaded with Per Andreasson's intelligently dumb drum beats and Jonas Almén's groovy sweat-dripping bass lines. It's a continuation of the love-affair between Hannes Irengård's dirty telecaster and Adam Grahn's silky voice.
It's whipped cream and caviar. Jean-Claude Van Damme getting pinned by Céline Dion. A sweaty one-night stand between Metallica and Michael Bolton.

LoveCop is here to free you from your shackles and read you your rights: You have the right to remain LOUD! Put your fucking hands up, and dance!

LAMBRINI GIRLS + UPCHUCK

Maifeld Derby and Metropolink present:

The Lambrini Girls are a noise-punk duo from Brighton who have made a name for themselves with their uncompromising attitude, biting humor and explosive live shows. Consisting of Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar, she/they) and Lilly Macieira (bass, she/they), the band is joined live by drummer Banksy. Their music is loud, angry and political without losing the fun or self-irony.

They are regarded as one of the most intense live bands on the British punk scene - their last tour was sold out well in advance. Media such as NME, BBC Radio 1, KEXP, CLASH, Kerrang!, Consequence and The Line Of Best count them among their supporters, Rolling Stone UK nominated them as Rising Stars, and even Iggy Pop outed himself as a fan.

Lambrini Girls stand for punk with attitude - and for concerts you won't forget.

Upchuck are a no-frills punk band from Atlanta, Georgia. Led by singer KT, the band plays fast, furious punk between hardcore, garage and early US hardcore songs.

Upchuck quickly made a name for themselves with releases such as Sense Yourself and Bite The Hand That Feeds, but above all through their live shows. The band has a clear DIY spirit: short songs, clear messages, no room for posers or bullshit. The content is about anger, solidarity, injustice and the feeling of staying loud in a broken world.

Upchuck play from small clubs to large festivals and have earned their reputation above all live - sweaty, direct and with no distance between band and audience. Just the way punk should be.
